English text; bound in contemporary tree calf; smooth spines gilt; initial and terminal blanks present; with a half-title to each volume and a leaf of advertisements after the text in volume II; with a double-page map and 31 plates, most aquatint. Statement of responsibility follows the edition statement on title-page: "Of these drawings all the landscape-part...was executed by Mr. Alkin [i.e. Samuel Alken]"--Cf, the animals are by Sawry Gilpin; printed footnotes; addenda and index to rear of volume II. Condition: GOOD to VERY GOOD. Collated complete, bindings tight and secure with the hinges and joints intact, covers very well-preserved with light rubbing to extremities, interiors largely fresh and clean.
