Daniel Defoe

Daniel Defoe is one of the most important figures in the history of English literature. He was a prolific writer and his novel Robinson Crusoe, published in 1719, is considered the first novel in the English language, a classic tale of adventure and survival which had a profound influence on literature and popular culture. He is also considered one of the first journalists, writing under many pseudonyms and covering topics such as politics, economics, and religion, helping to shape public opinion in early 18th century Britain.
