Publisher's original pictorial black and gilt-stamped red cloth designed by Alfred Garth Jones, half-title, 16 illustrations by Sidney Paget. Condition: VERY GOOD. Contents complete. Binding tight, secure and square, the hinges strong. Minor bumping of the spine ends, the edges and points remaining sharp. Covers largely clean. Contents with some light scattered spotting and marking. Small previous owner name neatly inked to half-title page. Illustrated plates very well-preserved. A handsome copy and scarce thus.
Notes: First edition in book-form, first impression. The Hound of the Baskervilles was Sherlock Holmes's comeback after his shocking demise on the Reichenbach Falls stunned his loyal Victorian readership.
