Exquisitely bound in full red morocco gilt, unsigned but probably by Henry Sotheran; the front cover ornately gilt decorated with snake and chalice design, double gilt fillets to boards with Moorish corner-pieces; single dotted edge-roll; five raised spine bands, the compartments and bands fully ruled, tooled and lettered in gilt; turn-ins ornately gilt; all page edges gilt; marbled endpapers; half-title present; decorative title-page printed in blue and black; 75 quatrains of Edward FitzGerald's version enriched with decorative textual borders and 10 full-page tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue guards, 19 smaller mounted colour plates, line drawings and borders throughout, all by René Bull. Printed by Henry Stone & Son, Banbury, England. Condition: NEAR FINE. A wonderful and near immaculate copy without previous ownership markings. The covers beautifully preserved. The interior with a couple of trivial light fox spots.
