Bound in handsome full straight grain morocco gilt, a.e.g.; moire silk endpapers; rear index. Condition: GOOD. Binding tight and secure, the joints and extremities rubbed. Interior very lightly toned, else excellent, with old inscription to front endpaper. Scarce.
Notes: An important correspondence [chiefly between G. Canning and the hon. D.M. Erskine] of the Foreign Office and its chief negotiator in Washington regarding the British Orders in Council of 1807 and the American response of an embargo on British goods -- with further papers relative to America. The failure of these negotiations resulted directly in the War of 1812.
