Bound in contemporary full calf, gilt twin bands and frames. Initial and terminal blanks present. Diagrams, tables and charts throughout. Decorative tail-pieces. Rear appendix. Condition: FAIR to GOOD. Collated complete. Binding secure; the covers somewhat worn with rubbing and bumping to spine ends and points, some abrasions to board and minor old repairs. Interior lightly toned, one leaf with a closed-tear, some pencil annotations, inking to endpapers, front endpaper with a corner-piece excised. A sound copy of this scarce title.

Note: The first edition was published 1707, The General Gauger was regularly printed throughout the eighteenth century. All issues are now scarce. John Dougharty (1677-1755) was an Irishman who ran a writing and arithmetic school in Worchester (Macclesfield No 657 (1707)).
