Notes: The second edition, first issue of Darwin's first published book. A somewhat revised and expanded version of his contribution to the Narrative of the Surveying Voyages, commonly known as The Voyage of the Beagle. The printer's details verso the title-page, and advertisements for Darwin's other works on p. 520 (= 2L4) confirm this copy as a first issue of the second edition, as in later issues both the title leaf and 2L4 are blank.
