Handsomely rebound in period style full calf, five raised spine bands, original spine labels and endpapers retained, two engraved frontispieces, seven engraved plates (numbered 1 to 9) and an engraved portrait vignette, as called for. Condition: binding secure, minor scuffing to covers, original title labels are a little scuffed, reinforced strip to inner edges, original front endpaper with inscription has been tipped-in to inside each front board (Thos. Stowers & Charles Parish, Grandson of Thos. Stowers), free endpapers are a little creased with some faint ink detail to top, large pencil annotation/detail to rear endpaper of volume I, small pale stain to margin of a small section of leaves, occasional pencil annotation, light scattered foxing, toning and dustiness. Charming two volume edition of Spenser's epic poem, elegantly rebound and illustrated with engravings.
