Condition: VERY GOOD. Bindings tight and secure, the joints and hinges intact. Covers largely well-preserved with slight rubbing to extremities. Some very light intermittent foxing. Six leaves in vol. II with a small worm tract in the margin. Previous owner name and date neatly inked to front endpapers.

A comprehensive history of the Crimean War by Henry Tyrrell, nineteenth century historian known for his studies of Russian history. Each volume has full-page steel engravings of battle scenes and portraits of military leaders and royals which are very detailed with decorative and illustrated margins, the maps are mostly double-page, hand-coloured, with inset engravings. Each volume clean and tight with minimal foxing. Text presented in two columns per page and enclosed in double-line border. With an extensive chronological precis of the war and an index to the rear.
