Hardcover. Reissue or first Scottish edition. Full leather. Duodecimo (170 x 105 mm), pp. [4], 152. Signatures: *4 A-M6 N4. Attractively bound in contemporary reverse calf; five raised bands; blind rules.

Condition: GOOD. Textually complete but lacking initial and terminal blanks. Binding tight and secure. Lacking spine lettering-piece. Some rubbing with minor losses to extremities. Contents mildly browned. Some erosion to title-page affecting the initial letter. Pencil writings to front and rear pastedowns and title. Extremely scarce.

Note: A reissue of the incorrectly dated "1759" [i.e. 1769] edition, with a cancel title page and the first Scottish edition. The ten letters were written to Prince Brunswick. This work being a translation of: Lettres à Son Altesse Monseigneur le prince de *** sur Rabelais et d'autres auteurs accusés d'avoir mal parlé de la religion chrétienne. [ESTC: T181296].
