First edition thus. Hardcover. Leather-bound with slipcase. Octavo (200 x 145 mm.), pp. [12], 126. Illustrated with 16 tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue-guards and in the text drawings by Arthur Rackham. Exquisitely bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe (signed on the front endleaf with an ink pallet) in full polished calf, the covers with a gilt border composed of three fillets with corner-pieces and an inner floral roll. The spine divided into six panels with gilt compartments, lettered in the second and third on a brown morocco label, the others floral tooled with sprigs and dotted lines, the edges of the boards and turn-ins similarly ruled and tooled. Striking floral-patterned endpapers. All page edges gilt. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Illustrated title-page. Map of Kensington Gardens at rear. Slipcase external pattern echoes the endpapers. Condition: NEAR FINE. Very minor shelf wear and handling marks, else a fine copy. Without previous ownership markings. Slipcase rubbed to extremities.
