Third edition thus, one of sixteen-hundred copies. Cloth-bound, hardcover, large quarto (30cm x 22cm x 5.5cm), pp. lv, 538. English text. Bound in publisher's original decorative black cloth, the spine and boards intricately gilt with the iconic Beardsley water-lily illustrations, bevelled board edges, top page edges gilt, other edges rough cut, plain endpaper, initial and terminal blanks plus half-title present, frontispiece with tissue-guard, title-page with decorative head-piece and publisher's device. With 365 designs by Beardsley, including twenty-two plates (six of which are double-page), decorative borders, initials, and chapter headings. General glossary to rear in double columns, colophon: Printed by Turnbull & Spears, Edinburgh. Dent colophon on title-page and spine with Dutton shown as publisher on copyright page. With an introduction by Professor John Rhys, and a note on Aubrey Beardsley by Aymer Vallance. Condition: VERY GOOD. Binding tight, secure and square, with the hinges and joints perfectly intact. Covers generally well-preserved with just a few small marks, the spine ends and points with very light wear. Interior complete and very clean with some light foxing confined to the final few leaves. Without previous ownership markings. Exquisite.

Notes: This is the third and most complete edition of Beardsley's Le Morte Darthur, limited to 1600 copies, and includes eleven designs and ornaments that had been omitted from the previous editions.
