Notes: Second edition, published in the same year as first edition. Benjamin Disraeli, a brilliant and eloquent member of parliament, fought injustices such as Britain's cruel treatment of Ireland. In Sybil, Disraeli revealed the stark social and economic divide between rich, materialistic industrialists versus poor, suffering laborers which initiated social reforms and the platform of 'Tory Democrats.' Disraeli twice became prime minister of England. This work is a classic.
