With 59 splendid hand-colored plates, including the frontispiece. Bound in contemporary half leather, spine gilt, t.e.g., marbled boards and endpapers. With at least 2,000 beautifully executed hand-colored figures on 59 copper engraved plates bound in the text (101 figs. of butterflies, 37 of "Sphinges," and 1,862 of all other moths, including Microlepidoptera and Pyralidae. A Catalogue of the British Lepidoptera figured in this book, arranged according to Mr. Stephens' lists of the British Museum collection, with species added in this edition inserted in their proper places, is followed by a complete list of species with Latin and English names, synonyms, and known places and dates of occurrence in Great Britain. Condition: GOOD to VERY GOOD. Binding tight and secure, the hinges intact, some rubbing to points and head of spine. Contents nicely preserved with some light spotting mostly to endleaves.
