Stunning full burgundy morocco binding, unsigned but certainly by Bickers and Son, the publisher of this edition. With elaborate gilt decorated borders, spine and inner dentelles. All page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Initial and terminal blanks plus half-title present. Portrait frontispiece of Milton, with tissue-guard intact. Title-page printed in red and black. Head- and tail-pieces, plus decorative initials. Printed at the Chiswick Press. Condition: NEAR FINE. Binding tight and secure, with the hinges and joints perfectly intact. Tiny amount of rubbing to the head of spine, the casing otherwise pristine. Internally there is a hint of light foxing to the endpapers, the majority fresh and clean. Prize inscription to front endpaper. Nice armorial bookplate to front pastedown belonging to Desmond John Falkiner-Morton. A wonderful copy.
