Three volumes (of nine) from the works of Cicero. Leather-bound. Hardcovers. Octavos (185 x 120 mm.), ff. [32], 382, [93]; [2], 305, [64]; 285, [69]. Latin text in italics. Handsomely bound in contemporary blindstamped calf over boards with central arabesque lozenges. Initial and terminal blanks mostly present, woodcut device on titles, decorative initials, shoulder notes. Provenance: Kiveton (name inscribed to front pastedowns); Peregrine Osborne, Duke of Leeds (bookplates to front pastedowns). Condition: Damp-staining through first volume with some loss to rear blanks, occasional soiling, annotation in Latin to one rear blank, spine with loss to one volume, tips restored, rubbing. Fair to good. [cf. Adams C1659].
