[NIGHTINGALE, FLORENCE]. Notes on Nursing: What it is, and What it is Not. London: Harrison & Sons, n.d. [ca. 1910].

Reprint. Cloth-bound; hardcover; octavo (22cm x 14cm x 1cm); pp. 79. English text. Bound in publisher's original pebbled cloth, front cover lettered in gilt, blind-stamped ruling to covers; yellow endpapers; printed footnotes and sidenotes. Condition: GOOD to VERY GOOD. Binding tight and secure, covers and contents largely clean, small hole to front endpaper. Scarce.

Notes: Early 20th century reprint. The first edition of this book was published by Harrison and Sons of Pall Mall ("Booksellers to the Queen") in 1859, and comprised 79 pages. A much-enlarged second edition (210 pages) was published the following year, and for many years was a standard teaching and reference text for nurses. The present volume is undated, but appears to be a re-issue of the first edition by the original publishers, who are now described as "Booksellers to His Majesty the King", so the publication must be after 1901. The Art Nouveau style of the binding perhaps suggests a pre-WW1 issue-date. The book contains two nursing exam papers, loosely inserted and dated 1939.
