Notes: A handsome copy of this account of Shackleton's final voyage as told by his second in command and successor Frank Wild, who took over command of the Shackleton–Rowett Expedition upon Shackleton's unfortunate death, completing the journey to Elephant Island and along the Antarctic coast while combating unfavourable weather conditions. The expedition made its returned to Plymouth on September 16, 1922, one year after its initial departure. Shortly thereafter, Wild published this account, which reproduces some of the last photographs of Shackleton. Taurus 112; Rosove 349.A1.
