RARE ORIGINAL PHOTO ALBUM OF WEST LAKE, HANGZHOU, CHINA (1910)

Leather-backed album with moiré cloth sides, oblong (15 x 20 x 4.5 cm), 50 photographic images (c.10 x 15 cm), mounted on both sides of thick card. Condition: VERY GOOD. The album has been neatly rebacked retaining the original boards. The photographs are very well-preserved, although the card mountings shows some light toning and spotting. Scarce.

Notes: The album consists of a total of 50 b&w photographs of West Lake in China with pencilled descriptions in English, including images of temples, pagodas, islands, palaces, graves, avenues, and villages. There are inscriptions to the front and rear endpapers, the rear endpaper indicating that the album was presented to Rev. & Mrs. Findlay from Dr. Liu Mintsz, 17th June, 1911.
