First edition, three parts in one, leather-bound, hardcover, octavo (23.5cm x 15cm x 2.7cm), pp. [4], vi, [2], 241, [3], 169, [3], 67, [3], plates; English text. Bound in contemporary half calf, smooth spine gilt with morocco lettering-piece, marbled paper-covered boards. Initial and terminal blanks plus half-title present. General title-page, plus divisional titles, each part with separate pagination, and register. Two illustrated plates in part III between pages 34 and 35. Directions to the binder on the final leaf. Printed footnotes. Provenance: James Clarke's armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Condition: VERY GOOD. Binding tight and secure with the joints and hinges intact, light rubbing to extremities. Collated complete, the interior very well-preserved with just a few faint spots. Previous owner signatures neatly inked to front pastedown and front endpaper. Scarce.
