ANTIQUE MINIATURE TERRESTRIAL DESK GLOBE BY E. BERTAUX, PARIS

An original French miniature terrestrial globe by E. Bertaux, Paris, circa 1875. The globe measures 6 inches diameter, 15 inches overall height, mounted on decorative dolphin stand with marble base. All text printed in French. Consisting of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes over a plaster core with different colours for each continent, equator and ecliptic lines. The cartouche reading 'Maison, E. Bertaux, Rue Serpente 25, Paris'. The globe is well preserved with some minor restoration and a few place names strengthened.
