Handsomely bound in contemporary panelled calf; initial and terminal blanks present; engraved portrait frontispiece; tables throughout; last ten pages contain 'Tables of interest per annum and per diem... '. Condition: VERY GOOD. Collated complete. Binding tight and secure, the hinges and joints intact with some light rubbing to the extremities. Interior with some light toning, the final blank leaves with old inking. Scarce.
Notes: George Brown was a Scottish mathematician and minister best-known for his invention the Rotula Arithmetica, a mathematical tool used to aid in addition. Arithmetica Infinita was the final book he published. It is a historically important 18th-century ready-reckoner and mathematical reference book, designed to serve as a fast "calculator" for merchants, surveyors, and accountants, offering a complete set of currency tables showing values fixed by the Privy Council of the United Kingdom.
