Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Leaf

An original single leaf from a Book of Hours, Northern Europe, circa 1450, fine vellum, 165 x 115mm, 17 lines in single-column on both sides, Latin text in brown ink, neat Gothic script, decorative initials and line-fillers burnished in gold on red and blue ground, illuminated decorative foliate-panel border to fore margin incorporating a fantastical grotesque creature, surrounded by vividly coloured flowers, leaves and fruits. A finely executed leaf in remarkably good condition.
