Bound in contemporary full speckled calf, six spine compartments with gilt banding, lettering-piece in second compartment. Red speckled page edges. Illustrated with engraved frontispiece, title-page vignette, first page of text with vignette, full page engravings at page 126 and 264, index and contents page at rear. Provenance: Armorial bookplate of Harry Lancelot Lee to front pastedown. Condition: GOOD. Collated complete. Binding secure, the upper joint starting very slightly, minor rubbing to head of spine and points, the covers nicely preserved. Mild staining to preliminary leaves, some light browning, however most of the contents remain clean. Scarce. Notes: First published under the title, History of the Flagellants, this is the first edition with the present title, identified on title as a second edition.
