Notes: First edition of what is considered one of Saintsbury's most important works. It provides a collection of menus, tasting notes, and opinions on wines and spirits consumed, with anecdotes of each occasion, a lovely sommelier work. Being a tribute to the art of drinking and the literature of wine. Written by George Edward Bateman Saintsbury, an English critic, literary historian, editor, teacher, and wine connoisseur, regarded as a highly influential critic of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. A well-preserved copy beautifully bound by Henry Southern.
