Bound in publisher's original navy cloth, lavishly gilt-decorated with elaborate Celtic design by Althea Gyles, edges uncut. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard of the author by J. B. Yeats. Title-page printed in red and black. Provenance: Lilias Fraser's Arts and Crafts designed bookplate to front pastedown. Condition: NEAR FINE. Binding tight, secure and square. Covers and contents very well-preserved. Trivial bumping to spine ends, else fine. Without dust jacket. A wonderful example and scarce thus.
Notes: An exceptionally lovely copy of this beautifully bound collection from Irish poet, dramatist and writer William Butler Yeats. The first edition was published in 1895, subsequent editions were published with a new preface, to which Yeats had revised and rewrote ‘The Wanderings of Oisin’ and ‘ The Countess Cathleen.
